Benefactors
Maddie's Fund®, the Pet Rescue Foundation (www.maddiesfund.org) has recognized Vigo County Animal Coalition’s efforts with a $10,000 grant, awarded in September 2008 to the Terre Haute Humane Society, to be distributed among several VCAC members. Maddie’s Fund, established by Dave Duffield, founder of PeopleSoft and Workday, and his wife, Cheryl, in memory of their beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Maddie, is a family foundation established in 1999 to help fund the creation of a no-kill nation. The foundation helps create programs that guarantee loving homes for all healthy shelter dogs and cats throughout the country.
The Wabash Valley Community Foundation (www.wvcf.com) has awarded a grant of $8,000 to the Terre Haute Humane Society, a VCAC member, for HOPE (Halting Overpopulation of Pets without Euthanasia) to offer spay and neuter for senior citizens and newly employed individuals. HOPE registration is every Thursday from 11:30 - 2:30 at the Salvation Army on S. 7th Street in Terre Haute.
Graham Grain and several individual benefactors made it possible for VCAC members to offer "Warm Straw for Chilly Paws," giving away straw bedding to keep outdoor animals warm over the cold winter.
